The line numbers for the North to South orientated lines run east to west from 1 to 13. Line 14 is the short line by the number 5 on the area chart. The east to west orientated lines are numbered from north to south, starting with the areas to the west of the Isle of Wight. These are lines 15 to 22, with 18 being the most northerly to cross the entire area. In the area east of the Isle of Wight, above line 18 the lines are numbered north to south, 19 to 28 with line 24 being the short east to west line between Selsey Bill and Bembridge by the number 5.
