Defra publish consultation on the ALSF

Defra are seeking views their proposals for the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund's aims, objectives and activities, who should deliver them and how the funding should be allocated from April 2008 to March 2011.

In the proposal, £4M per annum is provisionally allocated to the Marine Environment Protection Fund.  This is less than we had anticipated, given the current knowledge gaps published in last year's "Helping to determine good practice -summary report" and the need to support further Regional Environmental Characterisation survey work.  However, the proposals do allow us to begin planning for the period April 2008 to March 2011, and a call for Expressions of Interest will be published via this website soon.
